Pulse (an acrostic poem)

Palpitations made him stop in his tracks

Until his heart began to beat normally

Listening, he could hear others fleeing to the north

So he continued fleeing eastward and hoped his pursuers would go in that direction

Except hope was extinguished when a slug ripped through his chest

Wide (an acrostic poem)

Why have such a narrow view of life

It may be natural to focus on oneself

Don’t limit yourself in that way.

Expand to asking what others are experiencing.  You might be surprised at what gifts you discover.

Dummy (an acrostic poem)

Don’t tell me what to say

Unless you think you have your hand up my ass

My maker gave me a mouth, and I damn well will use it myself

Maybe you can make others turn their heads and move their arms to your whims

Yet you will never make me your wood-headed puppet, you ….

Vision (an acrostic poem)

Image: nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/09/HumanEye.jpg

Viewing those things that were not there

It was the bane of her existence

She wanted to expose them and show others what they could not see

If only she was better at that than she was.  Every time she tried; the figments fled

Organizing her chaotic thoughts, she decided to try a different trap this time

NaNoWriMo would be motivation to finally capture them inside her words

Scams (an acrostic poem)

She didn’t mean to start another pyramid scheme

Creating a product so cool, she just wanted to allow others to have opportunities

And to grow it quickly, she decided to use subcontractors, who could subcontract from there

Making a company with a pretty nifty product and a pretty crappy way to sell it.

So that’s why one day the whole thing toppled

Smooth (an acrostic poem)

Image: corporatecomplianceinsights.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/recording.jpg

Sometimes she didn’t know they were recording the conversation

Might have been a problem for a lot of people, but not for her

Others would hem and haw and stutter, but she was concise and clear

Others would say things they didn’t mean or didn’t want others to hear, she was honest and

That’s why she was happy the whole thing went to court

Here they would what she said in her own voice, and that voice said, “No.”

Stage (an acrostic poem)

Someone once said all the world is one of these

That may be so, but not everyone is an actor

As I feel a lot of people decide to spend their time as props

Giving others something to manipulate but not adding much to the plot of history

Enabling them to dodge the question of to be or not to be because they were afraid to perform

Structure (an acrostic poem)

Steel girders littered the broken skyline

That the wind howled through

Reaching for her shotgun, Lily watched for the Others

Until she was locked away in her hidey-hole

Couldn’t be too careful ever since the Others had landed

The war for Earth had been devastating to both sides until the Truce

Under that, no new Other could come planetside

Relying on those already here to finish the job without destroying what was left of the planet

Except now no one knew who was winning anymore

Cell (an acrostic poem)

Corruption pulsed within his veins energizing his desire to do wrong

Extracting money from the misery and oppression around him

Leaving him to live a life of luxury built upon the pain of others

Losing his soul bit by bit behind the bars of inhumanity
