Valley (an acrostic poem)

Vast hills of overwhelming emotions rim his psyche

All casting shadows in the depths where he lays at rest

Looking at the prospect of climbing out

Leaves him feeling exhausted before he even begins

Every step a struggle, the climb pure torture

Yet once high up in the surrounding hilltops the view of tomorrow is amazing

Dome (an acrostic poem)

Dim stars twinkled from far overhead

Overwhelming ancient history is written in those heavens

Mary contemplated how her short existence fit in all of that

Eventually, she embraced her cousins since they were all made of the dust of creation

Life Burns (a 100 word story)

He poked at the fire, trying to make it brighter to push back the overwhelming darkness.  Sparks danced into the air, but his feeble attempts failed to make that part of the world any more luminous.  Pissed off he unzipped and proceeded to urinate on the flames, drowning them and allowing the darkness to flood into the space.

He laughed as it so epitomized how his life treated him.

He decided to wander back to his cabin.  Being fire blinded, he tripped on a branch, falling flat on his face.  “Nope, that’s my life,” he mumbled in the fallen leaves.
