Poet (an acrostic poem)

Placing emotions on a page, then folding them into intricate origami dioramas of life

Or pluck stars from the sky and plant them under mountains to grow gemstone geodes

Even distill humanity, boil off the dross, and serve up a potent shot of pure intoxication and misery

Then crumple up the whole thing, delete the file, and try again since the craft was not perfected

Laugh (an acrostic poem)

Lifting those around her with the strength of her humor

Always trying to coax a smile and plant a seed of happiness

Understanding sometimes people need to cry

Giving them the space in those moments to finish watering their emotional crop

Helping eventually the next crop of the giggles to grow after that soaking

Valentine’s Day Special (a 100 word story)

Bob pruned his dying orchid while contemplating Valentine’s Day.  He hated the “holiday” with more passion than he felt about any relationship he had ever been in.  The only redeeming quality was the reduced-price chocolates the next day.  He popped one such morsel in his mouth as he moved to the next morbid plant, one given to him by his ex.  That’s when he had an epiphany!  He knew how to make Valentine’s Day special for everyone.  The following year he made ten thousand dollars selling dead flowers and bouquets to people who wanted that special something… for their ex.

Carry On(an acrostic poem)

Cupped hands holding all the ideas I had

And I am running to find the places they all need to be planted

Reaching my first destination, I try to plant just one idea

Really screw up and most tumble through my fingers to infertile ground. Devastating!

Yet after a period of mourning I rush on, and something miraculous happens. My hands refill!

Oh if I knew ideas would repopulate I would not have been so careful in the beginning

Now you know. Rush and let your ideas scatter, and wait to see what awesomeness grows!
