Charge (an acrostic poem)

Currents in the air made the hairs on her arms stand. She looked up at the figure she knelt in front of

He placed his hands on her head and she felt an electric jolt.

Arise and know that you are now in my service, he said.

Reaching for her sword, he pulled it out of its sheath and sliced open his palm, spilling his blood.

Giving the bloodied blade to her, he finished, “Now go forth and avenge me and my family.”

Everything went white and when the light faded, the woman found herself in the graveyard, alone.

Cork (an acrostic poem)

Cutlass sang as it was pulled from its sheath
Ordering everyone to pay attention to what was about to happen
Raising the bottle high, he slammed the blade upward
Kealhauling the glass top away, and with it, it carried the …

Cash (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t spend his money fast enough

All the things were needed, and they were needed yesterday

So when he went to check out, he was short the amount needed

He looked to his mom.  She sighed and pulled out her credit card. Happy birthday?

Tape (an acrostic poem)

The situation was very sticky that she found herself in

All the good intentions in the world were not going to help her now

Pushing the button, the last of her coins activated the slot machine

Everyone watched the miracle on the old grainy video when they pulled the …

Heatwave sent summer shimmers flowing down the black pavement

Yet those crashing waves offered no respite from the oppression

Determined to find relief, she struggled with the large retaining nut

Realizing it was too tight, she called out for help

And yet no one came to the rescue because a firetruck came around the corner

Now she was scared that she was going to be in big trouble for even considering such a thing

That was assuaged when they pulled out an even bigger wrench and viola the water flowed

Gamble (an acrostic poem)

Image: thumbs.dreamstime.com/b/snake-eyes-2-2031174.jpg

Giving a toss of the dice, he closed his eyes

And projected the vision he needed as he heard them hit the table

Maybe if he truly believe, his luck would decide to work

But belief and seven bucks would buy him a venti latte at Starbucks

Looking at the pips he shook his head dejectedly. He’d have to go to work tomorrow

Except it wasn’t time to leave yet. He pulled out the last of his bankroll

Suns spun in their gravitational dance around the galaxy

Planets pulled around and around each of those hot balls of nuclear fire

How amazing it was that the cosmic dance continued since time eternal

Every clear night she looked up at the dancers above

Reveling in the opportunity to study the performance

Embracing the challenge of cyphering out the music

She loved astrophysics

Tone (an acrostic poem)

The music began with a low, moody, ominous bass part.

On screen, lightning played among the far hills.

Nobody seemed to have a plan as to how to stop the zombie invasion.

Except one!  She pulled out her phone and that is what cued the Bollywood style dance-off!

Trick (an acrostic poem)

Image: images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/2/twenty-dollar-bill-back-stephen-robinson.jpg

That’s when she pulled up her sleeves before

Reaching behind his ear to pull out a twenty-dollar bill

It amazed not only the crowd, but her as well

Checking again, she pulled yet another twenty from his ear.  She tried again

Kept pulling out the money yet no one noticed his ears seemed to grow pointy
