City (an acrostic poem)

Canyons of concrete, glass, and steel define the urban landscape

Intense neon and fluorescent lights paint the scene in bright brash colors

That pulse with the heartbeat of the millions who live there

Yet she sat on the roof in the middle of it all, as alone as the moon that traveled overhead

Super (an acrostic poem)

Suddenly Marvin had a panic attack

Under his calm exterior, his emotions were surging

Perplexed at how his luck had turned so quickly

Eyesight grew dark around the edges as his pulse went through the roof

Reacting to winning the lottery shouldn’t be this stressful

Sweat (an acrostic poem)

Softly the salty water plopped on the stone dry earth

While her pulse pounded in her own ears

Each step quickly followed by another

As she ran from the person she once was

Towards the person she wanted to be

Foibles (an acrostic poem)

Feeling her way through the darkness

Olivia could feel her pulse quickening

If these walls could talk, they would be screaming murder right now

But silence was the only thing that was echoing in her ears

Losing herself here would not be a good idea with Justin chasing her

Even though Olivia really wanted to be caught

She shifted the grip on her chef’s knife and purposely made a noise
