Stage (an acrostic poem)

Someone once said all the world is one of these

That may be so, but not everyone is an actor

As I feel a lot of people decide to spend their time as props

Giving others something to manipulate but not adding much to the plot of history

Enabling them to dodge the question of to be or not to be because they were afraid to perform

Feast (an acrostic poem)

Focusing on the food was what gave him pleasure

Every morsel perfectly prepared and consummately seasoned

At the moment he could think of nothing better existing in the universe

So why was his stomach still an echo chamber of empty rumbles?

The fact the meal in question was just an old magazine spread and he had no money

Ramp (an acrostic poem)

Raising expectations to an unsustainable level

As the crowd goes wild, flying over the gap between fiction and reality

Making the question of how they would land a scary topic

Pitching sideways on the landing, the public crashed and burned, and that’s why we can’t have nice things

Bang (an acrostic poem)

Being able to pull the trigger had always been the question

All that training and education came down to this moment

Now it was time to execute or walk away

Given the thumbs up, she pushed the button, and the building imploded perfectly as she had planned

Plan (an acrostic poem)

Putting together ideas that function in lock step

Letting the dominos fall till their inevitable conclusion is so satisfying

And yet, without question, something will not go as you projected

Now how you engineer what comes after is a true test of your design

Close (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t believe I even had a shot, to be honest

Last thing I thought would happen was that you liked me too

Old feelings of insecurity and inadequacy swamped me when we were apart, but together, that was something amazing

So when I popped the question I was at an emotional breaking point

Even though you said no, I…

Blade (an acrostic poem)

Beware and respect her razor-sharp edge

Lest you take her for granted and she cuts you up

And watches as you bleed out in front of her

Don’t ever question her temper

Even though she may bend, she will never break

Pout (an acrostic poem)

Putting her lip out as far as it could go as the arms cross in front

Observe the slight tremble at the corner of her left eye where a tear threatens

Unless I am mistaken she has perfected the pose

The only question is how long till I capitulate?
