Salty (an acrostic poem)

Swearing up a blue streak was her pressure relief mechanism

And she needed all the relief she could get tonight

Little did she know her ex was going to be there with his super-model girlfriend

That’s when she knew she had to do something to assert dominance

Yet loosening the tops to the seasoning shakers were probably not the route to go

Hydrant (an acrostic poem)

Heatwave sent summer shimmers flowing down the black pavement

Yet those crashing waves offered no respite from the oppression

Determined to find relief, she struggled with the large retaining nut

Realizing it was too tight, she called out for help

And yet no one came to the rescue because a firetruck came around the corner

Now she was scared that she was going to be in big trouble for even considering such a thing

That was assuaged when they pulled out an even bigger wrench and viola the water flowed

Pain (an acrostic poem)

Punished at the speed of thought

As her mental sea exploded with wave after wave

Intensity so high she had to close her eyes and grit her teeth

Nerves fried, she fled into the oblivion of darkness hoping to find relief

Sand (an acrostic poem)

Silicon dioxide particles stuck to places on his body

All chaffing parts that should never be chaffed

Needing that shower to rinse them away and get relief

Deferring the problem to a clogged drain

Explore (an acrostic poem)

Everything in this tomb reeked of antiquity

Xenon lamp in hand, Rachel peered closer to the relief

Pomegranates punctuated with palm fronds trialed to a sarcophagus

Lovingly she thought about her fame and how she kept this whole thing to herself

Oblivious to a small vibration that sent dust falling from the ceiling

Rachel went to leave, but the tunnel back was now blocked by a ton of stone

Eventually someone would find her remains there as well
