Zebras scattered among the savanna grass

It made for a dizzying pattern for the approaching lioness

Giving her pause as to which way to attack

Zooming through the waving foliage, she struck out

And only managed to slap at a tail as what it was attached to scrambled away

Giving chase, her pride managed to finally take one down as the rest of the dazzle escaped

Contemplating the universe

Observing how small of a speck this world is

Scattered among the multitude of galaxies

Moving farther and farther apart

It really opens one’s eyes for a moment

Contemplating you

Frown (an acrostic poem)

Image: ychef.files.bbci.co.uk/976×549/p066ss7z.jpg

Finding upside down smiles scattered among the audience

Richard tried to make a quick joke to lighten the mood

Only it didn’t work, and more people joined the unhappy camp

When he decided one more time, they started to angrily yell at him

Nobody warned him that practicing his startup at a funeral was going to be such a bad idea

Dial (an acrostic poem)

Digits scattered around in a ritualistic circle

It spun and clicked as it began its spell

And soon there were disembodied voices talking from the other side

Listen close and you might hear grandma

Wise (an acrostic poem)

person holding gray twist pen and white printer paper on brown wooden table

Words tumbled from his fingers and pooled upon the page

Irrigating the fertile ground allowing new thoughts to take root

Slowly those ideas grow tall and strong, awaiting harvest

Examining his crop, he began harvesting those who’s time had come and pruning the rest

Fall (an acrostic poem)

Image: stewartslawn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/shutterstock_121547890-1000×640.jpg

Finding the remains of summer scattered upon the ground

As I walk along the shrinking daylight

Leaving the time of green behind

Looking toward the time of stark contrasts of dark and white

Gallery (an acrostic poem)

Gazing on the works of art

All scattered around the floor and walls

Left Marcus speechless

Long ago he wanted to be an artist

Every moment of every day he was constantly drawing

Realizing eventually that making a living at creating art was not in the cards

Yet stealing it….

Drop (an acrostic poem)

Didn’t think the fall would be that bad

Rolling to a stop that hard

Or finding pieces of yourself scattered across the pavement

Perhaps that’s why it takes something special to be a rain…

Scattered (a 9/11 acrostic poem)

So many things blew around in the wind that day

Covered in soot and concrete dust

As the world changed and grew colder

The towers had fallen and with that a bit of our naivety

The Pentagon was broken and burning

Even a field in Pennsylvania bore witness to the winds of change

Reliving the echoes this many years later

Everything still seems surreal in this post 9/11 world

Dust and soot may have settled, but the wind still blows
