Punished at the speed of thought
As her mental sea exploded with wave after wave
Intensity so high she had to close her eyes and grit her teeth
Nerves fried, she fled into the oblivion of darkness hoping to find relief
These times she felt like she was being washed out to sea
It caused her to panic and thrash erratically
Diving in, her wife swam out to meet and support her
Emerging from the ocean of troubles she dried her off with her love
Marking a real piece of paper with her thoughts and fears
And sending it to her love, who was across the sea
It took so long for it to get him
Letting the seed of hope she planted inside those words time to grow.
Silicon beds abound with bivalves
Hidden under a blanket of warm tropical water
Every wave akin to a gentle breeze that brings savory delights
Letting the colony feast on the bounty of the surrounding sea
Life might suck, but for an ocean filter, that means you are living large!
So many people together in close proximity
Ordinarily that could be a fun time for the crowd
Covid changed that dynamic greatly
It forced us to find other ways to be close while being farther apart
And while it wasn’t perfect, it was sometimes enough
Letting us dip our toes into the sea of being…
Surging emotions hit her mental sea wall
Overflowing into her life
Outside she looks like a wet mess
That is just temporary
Her storms will pass and the emotional sea will calm
Eventually, she will dry off and be herself once more

Careening down the road without a care
Love was lost, and Bonnie was determined to find it
If it meant driving from sea to shining sea, she would do it
Finding love wouldn’t be an easy thing she knew
For it had listened to her when she told it to jump off a ….

Rational thinking was the way Charlie approached his whole life
It was the bedrock everything was built upon
She had completely destroyed that whole paradigm
Kissing a complete stranger as the ball dropped
Mass hysteria could be blamed for that moment
And Charlie almost did so, but damn, that kiss
Now he was pulling her out of the crowd, back to his car
And he was trying to figure out what the next steps would be
Giggling, she spun him around and pinned him to the side of a building
Everything stopped as she kissed him again
Memory was chiseled into his forever with that kiss
Eventually she broke it off and mouthed goodbye before running off
Not wanting to let this end, he tried to follow, but she evaporated in the sea of people
Taking a deep breath, he reached for his bedrock, but damn those lips

Blue eyes staring out over the choppy waves
Longing for a sight of something solid on the horizon
And seeing nothing interrupting the embrace of sky and sea
Nervously the eyes blink, hoping for a sign
Knowing there would be nothing
Wearing down mountains into molehills
As well as etching wrinkles into the landscape
Tumbling towards the sea with reckless abandon
Entering a union with its brethren in a lunar dance
Returning to the sky to begin the journey again
