Debris swirled in the breeze caused by the opening door

Uncovering a notebook long forgotten, if the amount of dirt inside the chamber.

She bent down to grab it, to unlock its secrets

She wanted to bare her essence, her soul

Embracing her truth before setting it free into the world

Cauterizing the cuts those words caused by her clutching them so desperately tight

Releasing them would allow so much healing to enter

Except she just couldn’t do it.  She screamed as she hugged them tighter

Looking deeply into his wide-open eyes

Exposing everything to her well-schooled probing stare

Noting hidden secrets and flaws

Such was the life of an ophthalmologist

Simple things were not always possible

Even when Thomas was the perfect one

Christine finished laying the bricks of the new outdoor fireplace

Rather than something small, she had decided to go massive
