Stand (an acrostic poem)

Still there she was, even after he had left her

The universe was shattered, her everything was gone

And yet she was still upright

Now she didn’t know what to do, or how she would go on, but

Determined to not let him down, only then did she fall to her knees

Reigning over everything he could see

Oliver placed his fists on his hips and chuckled

Yes, this is what supreme power felt like

And then his dreams and delusions shattered

Lily walked in and handed him a mop and bucket

Being bound to his pillow sounds heavenly

Even to the point that she dreamt of it

Daytime and duties of motherhood always arrived and shattered that fantasy
