Lifting a scoop of earth.
And smelling the damp dark soil.
Nothing Is quite like it in the world. It recharges the soul.
Doing the same with this white stuff? Yeah, not that.

Smelling your perfume on your pillow lingering with me in bed
Covers draped over my chest like your arm was
Every memory of you comes flooding back
Now you’re gone, so I get up and give your pillow another spritz.
That way I can wake up to you again tomorrow.

So things didn’t go quite as planned
Everything didn’t come out smelling like roses
The eyes on the prize watched it drift away
But you still are here
And you are able to set new goals
Count the steps you took this time and savor that victory
Knowing you will go farther next time
