Grumpy (an acrostic poem)

Given the state of the sanity of humanity

Relating to anything even remotely social

Under oath to preserve what little bit of sanity I have squirreled away in a safe in my basement

My fellow peoples.  When it comes to what y’all are doing out there, I have one piece of advice

Perhaps you will do me a solid and really listen to what I’m about to tell ya

You all need to…. GET OFF MY F’ING LAWN!

Cyborg (an acrostic poem)

Can’t think back to the days when I was 100% human

You know, when I did everything without some sort of enhancement

Began with a set of glasses, then came the phones

Over time, virtual reality crept in complete with the ability to feel the matrix

Reality became distorted into something malleable with AI and social media saturation

Gaining an augmented suit and grafting it to your skin might be a step too far? Probably not.

Post (an acrostic poem)

Putting a piece of yourself out into the digital world

Organizing a public persona that the private one hides behind

Still, some of the private part leaks through the online words and pictures

That’s the good/bad of social media.

Block (an acrostic poem)

Being on social media can be so draining

Left and right posts about hot takes and hot button issues

Or the unwanted advances of strangers into personal headspaces

Can make you want to flee and hide under an analog rock

Know that there is a button that might help put a stop to that

Social (an acrostic poem)

back view of woman in blue dress sitting on the shore

So many people together in close proximity

Ordinarily that could be a fun time for the crowd

Covid changed that dynamic greatly

It forced us to find other ways to be close while being farther apart

And while it wasn’t perfect, it was sometimes enough

Letting us dip our toes into the sea of being…

Cookie (an acrostic poem)

Chocolate chips, brown sugar, vanilla extract play lead guitar

Oh, and all the stuff that gives it structure like a good back beat

Organize the lumps of raw dough on a baking sheet

Keeping good social distance between them

Igniting the oven and bringing it to temp so this party can get started

Everything comes out ooey, gooey, and so bad for you.  Yum!

(I have not tried them yet, but they look awesome!)
