Paradise (an acrostic poem)

Putting my toes in the ocean with the wind in my hair and the heavy scent of salt in the air

And if not then a crystal clear lake with cabins and joy all around

Rural roads with mile upon mile of fresh blacktop and not a car in sight

A strong wind during twilight bringing the fresh smell of a coming storm

Dark night under the stars, friends to either side sharing stories and jokes

Icy cold in contrast to a bright sun reflecting off a virgin snowfall

Surreally painted skies at the beach, good tunes on the radio, watching the sun sink slowly off stage west

Everyone should occasionally go to their special place to recharge their soul in their own …

Never sang in front of more than a couple dozen people before

Evert could feel his legs try to quiver with just the mere thought of the packed concert hall

Ready and waiting for him to come on stage and open his mouth to let those songs free

Vivian smiled warmly as she straitened his collar.  “You’ve got this.”

Oh, he got something all right.  Got to go to the bathroom that is.

Under the harsh bathroom light, he looked himself in the eye and thought..

So what was it going to be?  That’s when he threw up.

Stage (an acrostic poem)

Someone once said all the world is one of these

That may be so, but not everyone is an actor

As I feel a lot of people decide to spend their time as props

Giving others something to manipulate but not adding much to the plot of history

Enabling them to dodge the question of to be or not to be because they were afraid to perform

Stage (an acrostic poem)

So you feel like you’re an imposter, an actor

That you play your part in the drama called life

And you are not too good at the role

Give yourself credit.  No one else could take your place

Embrace the applause and take a bow, you’re a star

Shine (an acrostic poem)

Stars do their ballet dance

High above her head

It gives her goosebumps

Nighttime performances like this were awe inspiring

Especially as some performers blazed across the stage

Feet (an acrostic poem)

Focusing on her toes, she went en pointe

Enabling her to float across the stage magically

Everything about this whispered of her having a superpower, but that meant

The dancer’s heel and tendinitis where her arch-villains

Bulky (an acrostic poem)

Being a ballerina had always been his dream

Underneath the bright lights, dancing en pointe

Looking into infinity as he bounded across the stage

Knowing he was the center of everyone’s attention

Yet he knew that being a hippopotamus was going to make it difficult
