Starlight (an acrostic poem)

Stars send speeding photons flying through the nothingness

To land blissfully on my eyes as I look heavenward

Awestruck at the age of the light that graced me

Realizing a small chunk of ancient history

Looking at a place that might not exist anymore

It causes me to pause, wondering what I am casting into the void around me

Giving life to something that will outlast my stay in this universe

Hoping that someone will gaze upon that something and be inspired

To create their own light and cast it into the unknown

Shame (an acrostic poem)

So many wanted her to stay inside the box of their construction

Happy and content with the societal norms

All she wanted to do was be free, to be herself

Maybe if they all accepted that she would have bloomed

Except they belittled her for being different till she hid away her truth until it was gone

Stuck (an acrostic conversation)

So let me get this straight.  I need to stay with you”

That’s an understatement.  You need to get even closer than you are now.”

Until when exactly?”

Could be a real long time.  Depends on life. I can promise it won’t be boring, though”

Knowing you, I’m not surprised.  Okay, Reverend, I do.”

Yawn (an acrostic poem)

You bore me like no other person

And it’s amazing I can stay awake when we are in the same room

When you open your mouth, my mind shuts off immediately

Now if you weren’t my physics professor, I wouldn’t care…

Balance (an acrostic poem)

Born to teeter-totter through life

Always trying to find equilibrium

Longing to stay in the center

And yet we usually over compensate

Now we smash side to side farther and farther as we get older

Considering it a right of passage imparting some magical wisdom and yet

Eventually we all fall down
