White Zinfandel sparkled in the glow of the fire

Its hints of sour apple and honey played with

Notes of pine and citrus. The calming taste helped with her stress level

Especially needed since she was watching her house burn

Stress (an acrostic one-sided conversation)

So that proposal was due yesterday?  I thought it was next week.

They told me next week.  I’m sure of that.

Really, they’ve got to give us a second chance.

Everyone has days like this, Michael.  I’m only human.

So what do you mean don’t bother coming to work on Monday?

So Michael, do you think I can get a reference letter hookup from you?

Bonus poem (1st draft)  If you like this one better, let me know in the comments.

So that project proposal was due yesterday?

That’s right, so now our company’s existence is now in question.

Really?  Why didn’t you tell me?

Everyone told you, daily.  With voicemail AND email AND in person

So about that.  I thought you were all being a bit pushy.

So about that, you’re fired.

Uplifted (an acrostic poem)

Under all the stress that life was throwing Nancy

Perhaps the hardest was being away from her kids

Larry was across the country, and Jane was so busy with three kids of her own

If that wasn’t enough, she was looking at a pink slip sooner or later

Financial troubles were swamping the accounting firm she worked for

That would be enough to make a lot of people to just give up

Every day though, Nancy was thankful for a chance to do good for those around her

Determined to make the world a better place than it would have been without her
