Telling a yarn or two sitting around the flickering campfire made Tom happy

As the smoke rose, his words wove an ethereal medium that morphed into great battles and lover’s trysts

Leaving those that heard, speechless, filled with awe, and desperate to experience more

Eventually, the smoke faded away, and with it, Tom.

“Look, it’s true what they say about… you know.”

“Except I don’t know. Please educate little ol’ me.”

“Not on your life! If you don’t know, well then all the better.”

“Good grief! Be a man and tell me.”

“That would be funny if it wasn’t so ironic.”

“How come? Telling me would be such a… small thing.”

So I shouldn’t contribute by telling them about my latest bowel movement?”

How should I parcel out this… No!”

And why not.  They showed interest by asking.  I was being honest.”

Really people don’t care about your experience when they ask that.  They are just being polite”

Evidently so, but I refuse to capitulate to your norms.  I was brought up to…”

Cinema (an acrostic poem)

Composing art through words and images

Inspiring imagination and thought through deep story telling

Nobody is falling asleep in the dark, too much emotion and adrenaline

Everyone is mesmerized by what is happening on the big screen

Many will watch it again at home, but that collective theater experience is special

Allowing for a brief moment a community zeitgeist that can be transformative

Everyone wants to know who came first

Gonna tell you, I know the true answer.  I wasn’t supposed to say a peep.

Give me a break!  My brain’s not scrambled.  This is no yolk!

So you want to bust my shell? Then I’m not telling you, so keep your nosey beak to yourself!

Hygge (an acrostic poem)

Hearth is happily crackling, telling a tale of mirth

Yielding a soft warm glow into the room

Gifting a cozy sense of calm and comfort

Grafting the coming season to your soul

Entombing negative feelings for another time, another place
