Vessel (an acrostic poem)

Vehicle for fluids is raised for another toast

Enables waking dreams as you stumble being possessed

Sometimes you can host a multitude of different spirits simultaneously

Such as wine, beer, and hard liquors

Enough visitors that you reach your max occupancy limit, and you’re forced outside your body

Leaving you empty and full of yourself at the same time

Pastry (an acrostic poem)

Perfect doughnuts penetrated my persnickety consciousness

All demanding my devotion to their deliciousness

So I complied, completely cashing out with my confections

Taking titillating bite after bite to toast my triumph

Realize that these rare respites from my diet restrictions

Yields too many yummy yeast infused carbs for my blood sugar

Transport (an acrostic poem)

There were times he just wanted to get away

Race from wherever he was to someplace new

A place where no one knew him

No way that was going to happen now

So many things had happened over the past few years

People recognized him everywhere

Only if he could go back to being a nobody would he be truly happy

Reaching for his wine glass he raised a toast to himself

That’s what you get when you figure out the path to making it big

Toast (an acrostic poem)

The realization that you are burnt out

Oh, and you know that the whole thing is just beginning

And that’s why you feel so crusty

So butter up, buttercup, and take a deep breath

Then when you feel less crispy take another bite.

Raise (an acrostic poem)

Remembering all that has been lost

As well as all that we have gained

It is times like these that balance looking forward and back

Seeing this particular snapshot in each of our lives

Entices us to lift our glasses in a toast.  Here’s to you, my reader.
