Pain (an acrostic poem)

Punishing waves of agony crash along your nerves

And as they recede they leave riptides of aches behind

It makes it difficult to breathe, to think

Now you wonder if you can tough it out, or if this time it will break you

Pass (an acrostic poem)

Persevering when times get tough is necessary to succeed.

And everyone knows, doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity.

So, does that mean to be successful you need to be more than a bit touched?

See, it’s leaps in logic like that that show how I almost failed philosophy class.

Struggle (an acrostic poem)

So things are getting pretty tough

That might be an understatement

Really it’s moments like these that define who we are

Understanding how to work past pesky problems

Giving each other a hand and cross the finish line together

Going the extra distance because we choose to do so

Looking forward to sharing stories over a cold one at the pub

Enjoying our victory over this…

Fragile (an acrostic poem)

Flexible was never how Cybil would describe herself

Really she was almost as stiff as a steel beam

And yet she was nowhere as tough

Given she could simply walk down the street and pull any number of muscles

It was frustrating to want to do so much, but she just couldn’t

Looking at her you would never know

Else you might cut her some slack

Dual Wielding (an acrostic poem)

Double the trouble was not what Marcus wanted

Usually, he tried to avoid fighting when time traveling

As it didn’t really prove anything in his world

Looking at the two thugs with their swords drawn he knew he didn’t have a choice

Watching his foes split apart, he hesitated drawing his weapons

If he played his hand too quickly he would lose his only surprise

Everything would come down to timing

Lazily he took a small step back

Daring his attackers to press their perceived advantage

It must have been too good a temptation

Now they charged him.  He pulled out twin pistols from where they were hidden

Going to be tough to explain the bodies, but better them than him

Cute (an acrostic poem)

Cuddling her close, Derrick enjoyed her warmth

Under his light touch, she purred with pleasure

The night was young and the two of them were curled up on the couch together

Even though Derrick was allergic, he still loved his kitty

Epic (an acrostic poem)

Everything began when he finally agreed to go on the quest

People think it went to the next level when he fought the dragon

It was pretty tough, but not the thing he feared losing the most

Calling on Julia and asking for her hand, that was where the legend was born
