Cooking the lights out every night was her goal in life
Harvesting awesome flavors from every ingredient she touched
Extreme foodies would travel from halfway around the world to sample her dishes
Focusing on that dream, the six-year-old watched her mom boil water
Making miniatures of real life was their thing
Organizing all the bits and pieces
Determining how to fit them all together
Enabling the construct to simulate the reality, but at a smaller level
Letting them travel through time as they watched the big bang unfold on their computer screen
Finding that there are two ways to go from here
Only can pick one branch to travel down
Reality was she didn’t feel ready to choose a path
Knowing that, she sat there and contemplated the…
The ability to go where you want when you want was so curtailed
Reduced to going to and fro between rooms in your own place
And that was a dream luxury if you lived a studio apartment
Viewing those same four walls every day, day in, day out, hour after hour
Eventually even the strongest of will would start to feel incarcerated
Leaving one to make marks on the wall to mark doing your COVID time
Stars stare without blinking
Putting me ill at ease as I float here
And wonder if I will ever feel solid ground beneath my feet again
Can’t believe those brilliant blue skies are so long gone
Everything out there is so black
To be an interstellar adventurer
Really should be so much more exciting
And it was two years ago, but now?
Viewing the infinite from inside my craft
Everything just seems so small and too large at the same time
Leaving me to wonder why I booked this flight

Time to go on an amazing journey
Really it will be a long trip in a van
And once we get there it will be robot time
Viewing the countryside as we drive by
Everyone will wonder when we will get there
Looking back they will ponder where they have been.

Taking care not to over pack
Rachel finally closed her suitcase
After tomorrow she would be on her way to England
Vincent always wanted the two of them to travel, but they could never afford it
Even now she was worried about the money, but Vincent had provided her the means
Life insurance could be a blessing at such a down time
Instead of staying home and enjoying the weekend
Nancy packed up her four kids and took off to travel around the state
Sanity began dripping away after three hours of kids songs
And really started evaporating after the seventh scream fest
Nancy soon was drooling as she turned the whole show around
Even though she never had reached the first destination
