Wide (an acrostic poem)

Why have such a narrow view of life

It may be natural to focus on oneself

Don’t limit yourself in that way.

Expand to asking what others are experiencing.  You might be surprised at what gifts you discover.

Lunch (an acrostic poem)

Looking at her plate, she wondered how she had gotten here

Under the fluorescent yellow liquid cheese, a treasure trove of textures and flavors existed

Now her stomach rumbled in anticipation of the excavation ahead

Crunching a loaded tortilla chip, her tastebuds danced to the symphony of tastes

Hefting her beer and taking a swig, she smiled loving her little bit of heaven

Treasure (an acrostic poem)

The sand blew across the beach, stinging Ray’s face

Roaring waves ran themselves onto the shore

Everything screamed pirate to him

And to think the chest could be buried right below his feet

So many years ago his grandfather had hinted about this very place

Under the tropical sun, Ray was finally ready to prove the old man right

Reaching for his shovel he began to dig, looking for the possible riches

Eventually Grandpa laughed, picking Ray up and carrying him into the surf

Cents (an acrostic poem)

Counting the pennies of each minute

Every one of them needed to be pried out of his arthritic hands

Never once did he give out his opinion easily

Two pieces of precious copper seemed two too many

So he hoarded his moments, his thoughts his treasure trove

Temptation (an acrostic poem)

There once was a prince who desired the largest pearl in the world

Every day he obsessed with finding one bigger than what he owned

Many oyster divers would bring him their treasures with hope

Perhaps they would have a bigger one, and the prince would buy it

There was one woman whose beauty was world renowned

And she had a necklace given to her from her husband that had a large pearl

That story made it to the prince, and he called to meet with her

In retrospect, everyone knew what would happen next

Of course he wanted the pearl and the woman, but both were not for sale

Now he swings back and forth in his noose, a pile of pearls scattered under himn

Discover This (a hundred word discovery)

Discovery can be a wonderful thing.  Imagine finding where the x on the map really did mark where buried treasure was located.

Discovery can lead to unexpected and beautiful consequences that weren’t even imagined moments before.  Discovery can open up new experiences and insights allowing you to perceive that much farther into the universe.  Discovery can make new something old and too familiar, bringing a smile to your eyes.  Discovery can do all of that and so much more.

Discovery can also be me finding out I have been an idiot.  Yeah, I can put an x on that map.
