Starlight (an acrostic poem)

Stars send speeding photons flying through the nothingness

To land blissfully on my eyes as I look heavenward

Awestruck at the age of the light that graced me

Realizing a small chunk of ancient history

Looking at a place that might not exist anymore

It causes me to pause, wondering what I am casting into the void around me

Giving life to something that will outlast my stay in this universe

Hoping that someone will gaze upon that something and be inspired

To create their own light and cast it into the unknown

Bird (an acrostic poem)

Be brave and spread your wings

It might seem insane to jump out of your comfort zone

Releasing your safety for the unknown

Don’t hold back.  It is time for you to fly.

Cliff (an acrostic poem)

Conundrum of faith

Looking over the edge and seeing only the unknown

It makes one pause wondering if you should take that next step

Following your heart, believing that you can fly or…

Fearing the fall and fitfully fleeing…

Uncharted (an acrostic poem)

Up the corporate chain had always been Martha’s goal

Never settling for the now.  Learn and move on was her motto

Challenging the normal when she could

Her trajectory was always upward.

And all that stopped when her company went bankrupt

Reeling from the unexpected crash, she was left floundering

The idea of starting over somewhere else made her sick to her stomach

Eventually, her friends convinced her to start a business of her own

Determined to make this her life’s work, she set off into the unknown

Miracle (an acrostic poem)

Misha looked back over the waves

In the distance, she could still see the fires on the shore

Reaching out, she placed a comforting hand on Herb

After everything, the two of them had been through

Cutting ties with their past and sailing into the unknown was the hardest

Last week it looked like they would both be dead in a mass grave

Even unbelievers like Misha could recognize their escape for what it was
