Can’t think back to the days when I was 100% human

You know, when I did everything without some sort of enhancement

Began with a set of glasses, then came the phones

Over time, virtual reality crept in complete with the ability to feel the matrix

Reality became distorted into something malleable with AI and social media saturation

Gaining an augmented suit and grafting it to your skin might be a step too far? Probably not.

Secrets (an acrostic poem)

She wanted to bare her essence, her soul

Embracing her truth before setting it free into the world

Cauterizing the cuts those words caused by her clutching them so desperately tight

Releasing them would allow so much healing to enter

Except she just couldn’t do it.  She screamed as she hugged them tighter

The idea of giving up her truth and being naked, of needing to find a new truth

She would be an open window, an empty container, a person without value, a woman without …

Ration (an acrostic poem)

Reaching into the sack, he handed his daughter a small potato

And her look of disappointment hurt his heart so much

That was the best he could do, at least she would have something in her tummy tonight

If he could do more, he would

Only if he gave her more now, she would go without later that week

Now to bully his hunger into being quiet until he got her to bed

Chat (an acrostic conversation)

Could you tell me about your day, but make sure it’s not something I care about.”

How about I expound about memes, but without me giving you the picture.”

Ah, that might work, but can you mention random people I don’t know for context?”

That would be peachy! Thank you for such a wonderful conversation.”
