So far much can you handle today?
Perhaps it is one or two more than yesterday
Or maybe it is a half dozen less
Or maybe you threw them all in the wash and need to sit out a bit
Nobody can tell you how many you have at your disposal
So do what you can and know that it’s okay
Sometimes they just contemplated their closet
Here were so many choices of things to wear
It boggled their mind how they had so much and yet nothing at the same time
Realizing that they should just get rid of most of it, but what would they keep?
That’s when they gave up and just wore what they wore yesterday
Since it didn’t smell yet
And this is the new normal?
Can’t we come up with something a bit better?
Create a tomorrow that makes yesterday seem like the Middle Ages
Except some pine for that yesterday
Pulling that familiar close to their bosom
The unknown is just too much to …
So that proposal was due yesterday? I thought it was next week.
They told me next week. I’m sure of that.
Really, they’ve got to give us a second chance.
Everyone has days like this, Michael. I’m only human.
So what do you mean don’t bother coming to work on Monday?
So Michael, do you think I can get a reference letter hookup from you?
Bonus poem (1st draft) If you like this one better, let me know in the comments.
So that project proposal was due yesterday?
That’s right, so now our company’s existence is now in question.
Really? Why didn’t you tell me?
Everyone told you, daily. With voicemail AND email AND in person
So about that. I thought you were all being a bit pushy.
So about that, you’re fired.
Layer upon layer of things that need to be done yesterday
It taunts me and give me the middle finger
Sending my emotions into a conniption fit
Then I decide to rip the damn thing up
