Funds (an acrostic poem)

Finding money was always the problem.

Unless the problem was being too rich, but I haven’t experienced that particular permutation.

Now with more being broken every day, including myself, well a dollar breaks before it stretches.

Doesn’t matter if you pinch pennies when dollars are the lowest common denominator.

So all you need is love, until you want a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread, and then?

Deal (an acrostic conversation)

Don’t you try to barter with me.  You pay the cost just like everyone else.”

Ease up, my brother.  I was just offering something more precious than gold.”

As if your soul is worth a damn.  Do I look like I was born yesterday?”

Look, I’ll throw in my wings.  They’re hardly used since we got banished here. Do we got a…”

Ache (an acrostic poem)

And if the pain wasn’t bad enough,

Chuck could barely breathe.

He clutched his chest and wondered if this was the end.

Except he wasn’t dying, but the freshly tear-stained breakup letter he held made him wish otherwise.

Labels (an acrostic poem)

Looking to put everything into a box

And categorize it with other like items seems to be human nature

Because we like the world to be a smaller, more manageable place that isn’t as wild and scary

Except that takes away the magic of what makes everything, and everyone,  so unique

Leaving the world duller and much less interesting

So maybe we should be more open to allowing people to identify themselves?

Speech (an acrostic poem)

Image: i.ytimg.com/vi/loNkInxlOIY/maxresdefault.jpg

Spoken word woven with passion and distinction.

Punctuated the need for expression of the idea behind the movement.

Engaging those with ears to hear and hearts that were open.

Enraging those that had already decided they would be upset.

Can’t please everyone all the time, but boy it would be nice.

Heaven knows we could use it sometimes.

Rewind (an acrostic poem)

Reaching back in time, to a point where she was so much happier

Emily flipped open her old sketchbook and perused its doodles

Winding lines solidified abstract ideas into graphite reality

It pulled at her heartstrings to see how far she had come

Now she would be aghast if her art was that sloppy, but she missed the raw joy frozen on those pages

Determined to recapture that moment, she broke out her pencil and felt herself thaw.

Pound (an acrostic poem)

Putting his weight behind the attempt to be successful was all the difference.

Of course, there were problems with that.

Underestimating the adverse reactions to such a record-breaking performance

Not recognizing that his Adonis body was purposely built with potato chips and chocolate

Doesn’t matter, though, when you’re the cannonball champion of Quinn’s Pond.

Grand (an acrostic poem)

Grandiose gestures of graciousness

Rained down upon the little people

And that made her feel like a thousand bucks

Not that anyone was paying her much at the moment

Doesn’t matter if she should be rich not serving them as a stupid cocktail waitress.

Shift (an acrostic poem)

Image: techandfacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Dreams.jpg

So you think everything will remain the same.

Have the world pause so you can catch your breath.

If that were the case, all dreams would become black and white.

Flipping the intoxicating vibrancy of the life experience into the staleness of an overheated wax museum.

To each their own, but I will take technicolor chaos and hope for the best.
